Dr. Pavel Jakubec is an assistant professor at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. The focus of his studies is on ecology of insects with special interest in evolution, life histories, and thermal biology of necrobiont species of beetles (Coleoptera) and flies (Diptera). The lecture will focus on thermal biology, which is a key factor in timing physiological and ecological processes during the life of all ectotherms. The goal is to introduce laboratory and statistical techniques and tools, which can help us to better understand these processes and further use them not only in basic research but also in many applied disciplines such as forestry, agrobiology, or forensic entomology.
